What are unique and noteworthy scholarships provided by ALAs?
Several ALAs offer scholarships for a variety of educational purposes. If your ALA does not offer any scholarship programs, consider starting one. It provides a valuable public service to potentially improve quality care in different aspects of the assisted living industry and is good publicity for the host ALA and those involved in offering the scholarship program.
MHCA offers the Donald E. Pizzini Nurse Scholarships of up to $1000 to be awarded to individuals interested in pursuing a career in nursing or advancing in their nursing career with an emphasis in long term care.MHCA also provides a link to descriptions of the 2007 scholarship award recipients.
LifeSpan’s Beacon Institute has a link on its home page to “Scholarships” which offers the following scholarships:
In 2006, the Beacon Institute partnered with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County to help award the first five scholarships for senior care leaders for the Erickson School of Aging Studies.
The Beacon Institute also provides five scholarships to administrators in training and other staff members at provider communities so that they can attend our Annual Conference and Exposition and fall conferences.
The Beacon Institute scholarship web page also provides an invitation to partner with the Beacon Institute to create a scholarship for well-deserving and hard-working individuals in the senior care industry.
ALAA offers the Gordon Korb scholarship to provide financial assistance to qualified applicants for Alabama’s Board of Examiners for Administrator licensure.
HCANJ provides one annual scholarship each for an RN and LPN.
WALA provides scholarships for its Administrators Course. The scholarships are offered to administrators upon the recommendation of state regulators.
