ALFA Mobilizes Haiti Relief Fund
Haitian employees of U.S. senior living communities now have access to the ALFA Haiti Relief Fund. ALFA has organized this emergency fund to provide direct financial assistance to the many senior living employees—Haitians or those with family in Haiti—who have been directly affected by the recent earthquake and its aftermath. ALFA has established a $10,000 fund and urges senior living companies help supplement the fund by making donations … The ALFA Haiti Relief Fund will distribute $500 grants to Haitian employees of senior living companies in need. The grants must be used by the employee or a family member to: 1) visit family members in Haiti; 2) financially support family members in Haiti; or 3) help family members get out of Haiti. The application must be filled out by an officer of the senior living company or the executive director of the community. To apply, simply provide some narrative about the individual’s situation, why you believe he or she needs the funds, and how he or she intends to use it. Applications will be prioritized and grants awarded based on an individual’s situation and immediate need. If awarded a grant, a check will be made out to the individual and sent to the individual filling out the application. Senior living companies do not have to be ALFA members for employees to participate in the grant process. The ALFA Haiti Relief Fund will actively award grants throughout 2010. At the end of the year, any balance will go to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. Thank you.Assisted Living Federation of America![]() View more ALFA Update articles!Feedback
