Arizona ALFA put down its senior living roots in 1997 at a time when the state was populated by adult care homes serving 10 or fewer older adults. State officials began to eye the industry as several large providers opened communities, prompting interested parties to assemble a task force of long-term care ombudsmen, nursing homes, and assisted living representatives.
