In a Caring.com survey on caregiving technology devices, respondents eschew in-home technology in favor of hands-on care. In the United States, one in three seniors fall each year and about 75 percent of health-care costs are spent on chronic diseases. In a study conducted by the parent company of Philips Lifeline, data showed seniors with chronic conditions fell and required emergency transport up to 54 percent more often than their peers with no chronic conditions.

Both state and federal legislative and regulatory activity impact the senior living industry, and a top priority of Argentum is to ensure meaningful and appropriate rules governing association members and the residents and families they serve. Recently, Argentum offered comments on two pressing federal issues affecting the industry stemming from separate proposals out of the U.S. Department of Labor and the Veterans Benefits Administration.
