Using the EPA’s energy measurement and tracking tool, Portfolio Manager, you benchmark your energy usage and apply to receive both ENERGY STAR® and C.A.R.E program recognition.

Begin Recognition Process by Benchmarking Your Community

1. Create a Portfolio Manager account

2. Connect your account with ALFA CARE, ALFA's Portfolio Manager master account for the C.A.R.E. recognition program.

3. Benchmark your property's performance

4. Upon submission of data via the EPA Portfolio Manager, a senior manager must submit a peer review application so that ALFA can verify accuracy of the data.

Go Above and Beyond- Make Energy Saving a Year Long Commitment

1. Set Goals for improvement

• Estimate potential for improvement
  
• See examples of goals that your community can work towards in specific departments and as a whole.

2. Assess your current energy management practices

• Fill out the Energy Program Assessment Matrix and/or the assisted living Facility Energy Assessment Matrix to inventory your current energy management practices and plan a path for improvement. This will serve as the foundation for developing an energy management plan.
  
• Communities with an energy performance score of 75 or above can apply for the ENERGY STAR.

3. Get your residents and employees involved

• View the free recorded webinar “Engaging Employees and Senior Care Residents to Save Energy” to learn how to leverage the efforts of your entire community towards improving your energy management and saving energy.
