The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) is the largest national association exclusively dedicated to professionally operated assisted living communities for seniors. ALFA's member-driven programs promote business and operational excellence through national conferences, research, publications, and executive networks. ALFA works to influence public policy by advocating for informed choice, quality care, and accessibility for all Americans.
It was the place to be for anyone in the senior living business – the ALFA 2009 Conference & Expo in Philadelphia in May convened innovative thinkers, dedicated professionals, and visionary leaders. The result? An ideas, information, and strategies exchange that is helping providers enhance resident care, weather economic challenges, and raise the bar of operational excellence. Plus – the conference introduced ALFA’s new blog – alfa-resource.org
– where attendee posts, discussions, and videos reached a worldwide audience throughout this important event.
As participants commented between sessions or as they made their way through the Expo, this year’s ALFA conference was the “bigger and better” everyone predicted. As one conference participant said, “I’ve been here for three days and I’ve got 15 pages of things I need to do when I get back to my company.”
In addition to presenting strategy-packed sessions and cutting-edge products and services for the senior living market, the ALFA conference also recognized the industry’s stand-out professionals. Sweeping changes have occurred in Washington, with a Democratic president and Democrats firmly in control of both houses of Congress. These far-reaching changes will mean opportunities and challenges for assisted living residents and providers.
“Over the last few years, ALFA has made great strides increasing our presence on Capitol Hill and becoming the voice of senior living,” says ALFA President and CEO Rick Grimes. “With the changes in Washington, we now have a fresh opportunity to educate government leaders and further advance their understanding of the ways in which assisted living daily improves the quality of life of our residents and their families.”
