Many ALFA Affiliates/Chapters offer CEU credits at their annual conferences and through regional meetings, with high caliber assisted living specific educational offerings presented by some of the foremost experts.
ALFA State Affiliates and Chapters also offer training courses where required and approved by the state, to meet licensure requirements for Residential Care and Assisted Living Administrators. Please contact your ALFA State Affiliate or Chapter to learn more about their upcoming training workshops.

Senior Living University
Senior Living University ® provides insightful training and continuing education materials for individuals and groups caring for older adults.
Independence, dignity, and choice are promoted through self-study certificate courses, group trainings, DVDs, instructor guides, exams and in-services to support training of new and current employees as well as provide an opportunity to earn continuing education units. Caregiver materials include orientation to assisted living, activities of daily living, dining, medical awareness, dementia care, back safety, fire safety and more. Select titles are also available in Spanish.
Senior Living University’s administrator and leadership courses are widely chosen for professional development. In fact, a number of states from Rhode Island to Alaska use or require SLU’s Administrator Level 1 for certifying administrators. Some of the administrative and management-related courses include: Administrator Level 2, Risk Management, Crisis Communications, Recruiting and Hiring the Best, and Supervising Front-Line Staff among others.
All of Senior Living University’s certificate programs are self-study and include an open-book exam. Participants who earn 85% or better on the exam receive a certificate reflecting the approved number of SLU-assigned CEUs for the course. In addition, NAB-approved CEUs are also available for certain courses.

ALFA no longer provides the national Administrator training certificate, and does not offer an Administrator Certification.
I have an Administrator Certification in Texas. Is this valid in another state?
Training requirements vary in each state based on licensure rules. If you are seeking employment in a different state than you currently work, training requirements may vary dramatically. For required Administrator training, please contact your ALFA State Affiliate or Chapter. If an Affiliate or Chapter does not exist in the state that you currently work, you should contact your state licensing agency for information.
