Voluntarily reducing greenhouse gas emissions through strategic energy management practices is ethically sound and gives your community/company the opportunity to promote your efforts and the positive impact they have on the environment. Secondly, taking action to reduce your community's energy usage leads to cost savings! Lower bills mean more money to spend on your senior living community’s goals and mission while helping your residents recognize your environmental leadership.

Reducing Energy Doesn't Cost Much Money
View energy saving ideas like cleaning air filters monthly, sealing up cracks along the window, switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs and unplugging electronic appliances that are not in use, etc.

2012 Communities Acting to Reduce Energy (C.A.R.E) Program

At COMMUNITY 2012, the ALFA conference and expo, ALFA will honor assisted living member communities that have shown 5 percent, 10 percent and 15 percent energy savings over the past 3 years as part of the Communities Acting to Reduce Energy program, or C.A.R.E.

Senior living provider companies that have 1 year of of their entire assisted living portfolio documented in the Portfolio Manager will receive recognition as part of the C.A.R.E. Provider to Spotlight program.
 

Participation Instructions

We thank you for your participation in this program. If you are ready to set up an account and share your energy saving data with ALFA, please follow these  C.A.R.E instructions.

Upon submission of data via the EPA Portfolio Manager, a senior manager must submit a peer review application so that ALFA can verify accuracy of the data.

Eligibility Criteria

• 50% or more of the campus must be assisted living units.
• This awards program is open to current member of ALFA only. Learn more about ALFA Membership.

Award Recognition Details

ALFA will honor assisted living communities that have shown 5 percent, 10 percent and 15 percent energy savings over the past 3 years as part of the Communities Acting to Reduce Energy program, or C.A.R.E. Communities who meet these requirements will:

• Recognition signage at the ALFA 2012 Conference & Expo
• Recognition in a press release issued during ALFA 2012 Conference & Expo
  
• Communities Acting to Reduce Energy (C.A.R.E) Certificate
• Personal letter from ALFA President & CEO, Richard Grimes to company CEO
  
• COST SAVINGS!!

Deadline to Apply

The deadline for online submissions to the ALFA CARE program is April 1, 2012. Participate in C.A.R.E.
