The following are the rules for submission and other details relating to ALFA’s 2013 Senior Living Art Showcase, an art competition honoring the many ways older adults add beauty to our world. Participation Requirements:Artists must be current residents of a senior living community including independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities. The artwork must be submitted by the original artist or with express permission from the original artist(s). Submissions may be created in a variety of fields including but not limited to: painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and ceramics. All forms of art will be accepted. Judging And Selection:This year’s theme is Celebrating The Beauty Of Life. Residents are asked to answer the question: “What adds beauty to your life?” through their works of art. In addition to submitting a high quality digital photo of their artwork, participants must also include a description of how their artwork embodies this year’s theme. This description will be shared along with their artwork on Facebook and will be used to choose the grand prize winners. Eligible entries that best embody the theme will be uploaded onto ALFA’s Facebook page for a voting period ending March 25th. Artists are encouraged to tell their friends and family to vote online by clicking “like” next to the photo of their painting. Each “like” will count as one vote. The three submissions earning the highest number of likes will be named Fan Favorite Winners. Three Grand Prize Winners will also be selected. One Grand Prize Winner will be an assisted living resident, one will be an independent living resident, and one will be a memory care resident. Winners will be chosen based on how well their artwork demonstrates the theme: Celebrating The Beauty Of Life. Preference is given to artwork that is created specifically for the ALFA Senior Living Art Showcase, but artwork created within the past year will be accepted. Each of the six winners will receive a painting party (valued at $500*) for their community and an official art showcase t-shirt. All winning pieces of art will receive recognition on ALFA’s website and at the ALFA 2013 Conference & Expo. Residents will not need to give ALFA their artwork, since their artwork will be displayed digitally. Deadline for Submissions:**ALFA is no longer accepting submissions for the 2013 showcase. The submission period is CLOSED. Terms of Agreement:By submitting a piece of artwork for the ALFA Senior Living Art Showcase, submitters acknowledge that they have sole rights to the artwork entered or express permission from the original artist(s) to enter the artwork. In either case, by submitting the entry, it is acknowledged that the original artist(s) have read and agreed to the following submission agreement as well as the rules and guidelines of the 2013 ALFA Senior Living Art Showcase.
