Amparo Machuca Receives 2009 ALFA Caregiver Hero Award

Amparo Machuca is admired by her team members for her commitment to serving the needs and desires of residents in her care. Amparo is a care manager in the reminiscence program at Sunrise at Cinco Ranch, a Sunrise Senior Living community. She earned a reputation for championing her company’s principles of service through her creative efforts to maintain the best quality of life for her residents.

Her deep love for her residents is reflected in the special moments she creates for them. Amparo decorates a special Christmas tree at her community with handmade ornaments adorned with photographs of her residents. She is famous at her community for dressing up as Elvis Presley on “The King’s” birthday. When she isn’t all shook up, she can be found organizing impromptu picnics and socials.

Amparo is a pillar of strength and compassion for her resident’s families. She frequently writes letters to family members offering hope and reassurance. When one of her residents passed away, she created a special scrapbook of memories for his spouse who also lived in assisted living.
