Assisted living is effectively regulated at a state level, but there are still a variety of legislative and regulatory initiatives at a Federal Level that are important to senior living providers and the residents they serve. ALFA has been involved and looks forward to working with Federal Agencies and Boards, Members of Congress, and other stakeholders to generate policies in the best interests of older adults and the nation as a whole. ALFA is particularly concerned with developing policies that ensure effective and accessible long term services and supports, protect seniors from financial, physical, and emotional abuse, as well as encourage progress in fighting diseases, like Alzheimer’s disease, which affect the senior population. ALFA’s main goal is to ensure that seniors everywhere are guaranteed choice, dignity, independence, quality of life and affordable long term services and supports.
Federal agencies develop and enforce rules affecting countless aspects of senior living. ALFA gives senior living a voice by submitting comments to federal agencies when proposed rules affect senior living.
