ALEXANDRIA, Va. – December 06, 2011 -- The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) today opened nominations for the ALFA 2012 Hero Awards, the organization’s annual recognition of the hundreds of thousands of dedicated professionals who compassionately serve seniors residing in senior living communities. Additionally, ALFA introduced the ALFA Senior Living Community Leadership Award, a new annual award program designed to highlight executive leadership in senior living communities. ALFA HERO AWARDS In 2011, nearly 650 ALFA Hero nominations were submitted. Those nominated for ALFA Hero Awards included community nurses, staff members and volunteers. The winners were selected based on the articulation of their commitment, compassion and expressed joy in championing quality of life for the seniors they assist every day in independent living, assisted living and memory care communities.
